physiotherapy

Aquatic physiotherapy (hydrotherapy) is a form of rehabilitation, which works well as an adjunct to traditional physiotherapy intervention. It is particularly beneficial for those who may experience difficulty doing land-based exercise. People are forever amazed at how much freedom of movement they have in water compared to dry land.

what is

AQUATIC PHYSIOTHERAPY?

Aquatic physiotherapy, or hydrotherapy, is a specialised area of physiotherapy. It involves supervised exercise in a warm water pool and is carried out by a chartered physiotherapist.

Exercising in warm water is an ideal way to encourage people to move, especially if exercising on dry land has been difficult in the past.

The benefits of exercising in warm water are numerous. These benefits are due to the physical properties of the water, namely the buoyancy and the temperature of the water. The buoyancy of the water helps to support the body and this weight -relieving property results in one being able to move and exercise easier with less pain. The temperature of the warm water allows the muscles to relax and this helps to relieve stiffness and pain.
